Week 3 Progress: Multiplayer System
On our third week developing cross check, we have made an amount of progress especially in the programming side of things.
Summary:
1. Multiplayer system, in unity levels, and base for art completed
2. Case details, culprit detailing, player interaction with environment, concept art is on progress
3. Level Balancing, Case Simulation, Core Mechanic Implementations, and splash art as our next progress
Currently, the multiplayer system is already able to be implemented where players can easily connect and exit lobbies or change their username inside the lobby itself. The layout for the levels that are created last week has been implemented inside unity alongside with every points of it's clue spawner, buildings, and items that has fixed or flexible location. Lastly, for our done progress in the art division, we established a new base for our art style by ascertaining the final color palette, references, and base model size for characters.
As of right now, we are focusing on developing the details that will be included inside the Crime Scene, HQ, and Characters that will be available in the game. Currently there are 7 casts of culprits listed with 2 main characters available to pick. We are working on the case details by taking references from other entertainment sources such as manga and film in order to establish a well woven case with culprits that have striking features. We also are currently working on sketching the main characters that will be available in the game later on as well as strengthening our multiplayer character interaction with their environments.
During this week, we hope to accomplish a lot of things such as implementing parts of the game flow in order to match at least 50% of the games' intended mechanic for next week for programming. For design, we targeted that next week the game design document will be fully completed with tiny details of all possible occurrences and finalizing the clue locations for levels based on what's going to be implemented in unity. Finally, we aim to have mockup splash arts of the character followed by some basic UI's that can be incorporated in game already so you guys can finally see some part of the game in action.
